World Record set at ATEI
The games industry has a new Guinness World Record holder within its ranks following a virtuoso videogames performance on the Bandai Namco Games stand at January's ATEI.
The world leading international gaming and amusements event, which has broken record upon record in its long and distinguished history, saw industry specialist Kevin Williams set a world best time of 1 minute 34.35 seconds on the Raw Thrills powerboat-themed racing game H2Overdrive, on the 'Frozen Tundra' course. Gaz Deaves, Video Games Records Manager at Guinness World Records confirmed: "Kevin delivered a world-beating performance and will be put forward for inclusion in the next Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition. Anyone attending ATEI would have seen that arcade videogames are very much alive and well, providing players with a great out of home entertainment experience. The hand-eye co-ordination, lightning reflexes, focus and concentration shown by Kevin places him among the best in the world. It was a great pleasure to be at ATEI and adjudicate on the excellent performance. Kevin received an official Guinness World Record certificate in recognition of his skill and dexterity." The all-new Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer's Edition, the second Guinness World Records book devoted solely to the world of gaming, is on shelves now and features 90 per cent new records, 750 new photographs, high score statistics and fascinating facts. |
